New Beginnings: Why Starting Fresh Is Worth It
New beginnings. Whether you've never taken a cruise, you're ready to try a new cruise line, or you've been curious about river cruising — trying something new always stirs up a little anxiety. That's completely normal. And honestly? It's something I understand on a deeply personal level.
But here's what I've learned after years in this industry: the anxiety of the unknown is almost always smaller than the joy waiting on the other side of it.
That's Exactly Where I Come In
When you're standing at the edge of something new — a first sailing, a different style of travel, a destination you've never explored — the last thing you need is to figure it all out alone. That's where having a seasoned travel consultant in your corner makes all the difference.
I don't just hand you a brochure and wish you luck. I actively listen. I want to know your wants, your needs, your must-haves, and those bonus items that would make the trip feel truly special. Think of me as your sounding board — someone who's genuinely invested in getting it right for you.
How I Think About Your Trip
When we sit down for a consultation, I'm not just checking boxes. I'm thinking through everything that plays into your experience.
I prioritize what you're looking for in a specific order: Needs first, then Must-Haves, then Wants, then Bonuses. That framework keeps us focused on what matters most to you, so nothing important gets lost in the excitement of all the options.
And with your profile in hand, I'm also thinking about:
- Special dates — Are there birthdays, anniversaries, or milestones we should celebrate on this trip?
- Weather patterns — Does your dream itinerary have any seasonal considerations during your travel window?
- Special needs — Whether it's mobility, dietary, or anything else, I'm thinking about it before you even have to ask.
- Upcoming promotions — Cruise lines run incredible deals, and knowing what's coming can mean a significantly better rate for the same amazing experience.
That's the difference between booking a trip and having someone truly plan it for you. I'm always thinking about every little thing that plays into you having the best experience possible.
My Own New Beginning
I'll be honest with you — I had more than a little anxiety of my own when I made the leap from being an employee at a travel agency to owning my own.
Jumping into the unknown of running AYS Vacations was one of the biggest decisions of my life. There were moments of doubt. Moments of "what if this doesn't work?" But I knew that if I stayed comfortable, I'd never become more of what my clients truly deserved. I had to push past the fear to grow into the advisor I knew I could be.
And I'm so glad I did.
Here's to Both of Us
So whether you're nervous about your first cruise, curious about switching from ocean to river sailing, or just ready to try something completely different — I get it. That mix of excitement and uncertainty is real. And it's worth it.
You don't have to take that leap alone. I'm here to make sure your new beginning is everything you hoped it would be, and then some.
Here's to new beginnings — for both of us. Cheers! 🥂
